Spring Market in Mexico Beach
It’s not quite feeling like spring today (mid 60’s and overcast) but……….I know people who are shoveling snow…so I’m not complaining!!!
Our schools are having their spring break this week, so the teenagers have been trying to get out on the beach no matter what the weather!!! Mexico Beach is not a ‘spring break’ go to beach, like Panama City, Destin, Fort Walton Beach. We just don’t have the ‘entertainment?’ industry like the bigger cities. And, for those of us who live here….we are A-OKAY with that.
As for real estate…………it’s been good! I believe the bottom of the market has come and gone…..and buyers feel that way too and are anxious to buy their beach house or lot before values really start going up. While I do believe, pricing is on the rise, I think it will be a slow appreciation. Interest rates are still great, so I think you can still get a great deal here!!!
I talked to a potential buyer who was on the fence about even coming to look at property here….he felt our prices here were higher than other coastal areas. He’s right. Mexico Beach is a unique place. We are very small, only 3 square miles + St. Joe Beach another 5-6 miles of white sand beaches. We have no high rises, no McDonalds, no shopping malls,…….we are “old Florida”. What we have here is beautiful white sand beaches and great fishing. We have a few condo complexes (4 stories is as high as they go), a few townhouse complexes, and single family homes. Every home is walkable to the beach in a matter of minutes, a quicker golf cart ride! Our inventory is very small…..which allows our values to be a little better. The old supply and demand theory!
If you are looking for low key, good home town friendly folks, great fishing and beautiful beaches…….you’ve got to come take a look!
