Mexico Beach February 2020

The City of Mexico Beach is a stretch of sugar white sand beach that runs along the Gulf of Mexico in the panhandle of Florida.   We are small (only 3 miles long) low key, off the beaten path and a place that you will absolutely love.    We have a height limit so no high rise condos, all restaurants and boutiques are locally owned and operated.   We have a sidewalk that runs along the length of our town, a hubbub of walkers and joggers.  We have a canal that will take you to some of the greatest fishing spots in the Gulf!   You can drive along the coast and enjoy the shimmering water and sugar white sand, pull over when you see one of the many boardwalks down to the water and put your toes in the sand!!!!

We are truly a special place.

October 10, 2018, however, we were hit by a Category 5 Hurricane.   It devastated our city as well as adjoining communities.  We lost over half of our homes and all of our restaurants and gas stations as well as other businesses.    The City, homeowners and business owners here are resilient, strong and dedicated though……………Mexico Beach is, slowly but surely, coming back!!!

So while we do not yet have a gas station (there are a couple about 10 miles down the road though) or an eat in restaurant (several food trucks though) or a hotel, and construction is ongoing everywhere………..our beach is still amazingly beautiful and the people just as friendly as ever!!!

There are many vacation rentals up and running to accommodate your vacation so……………..

come visit we’d love to see you!!!

Port St. Joe is only about 10 miles down the road!    Gas Stations, lots of great shopping and dining available here!!!!

I have lived in Mexico Beach most of my life!    I came here from the tundra of Erie, Pennsylvania…Pennsylvania is a beautiful state….just a tad too cold for me.

I love this place.  I love my job.   Honestly, I could not be more blessed in life!

It was hard getting over this 2018 monster storm…it was hard seeing my friends’ homes destroyed and lives torn apart.  It was hard selling their property and seeing them move.    Many of them are still fighting with insurance, still debating whether they have the stamina to stay and rebuild.

We have a long way to go before we are anywhere close to “normal”.

However, I am re-grouping!    I am refreshing my website and dedicated to blogging again!

I will be updating you on the real estate market as well as the rebuild of Mexico Beach and St. Joe Beach!

If you have any questions or topics you’d like me to discuss… can email/text/call me anytime!!!
